Gemslinger (coming… sometime)

programming, 2d illustration, 3d modeling

A mash-up of match-3 games with the original Legend of Zelda. Sort of.

Professional Work

I’ve worked for seven years at a nursing school, making educational games and training apps. Here are a few.

Virtual Clinic (2022)

programming, 2d illustration, 3d modeling, texturing

Web and mobile training app for nurses working in small clinics.

ESmart-HF (2019)

programming, 2d illustration, ui design

Tablet-based education for dealing with heart failure. Illustrations in the same style were used in later projects.

Involve (2018)

programming, ui design

A tablet-based clinical intervention focused on teaching family members of ICU patients to make thoughtful and respectful care decisions for their loved ones. Features dialogue choices, a branching narrative, voice acting and lip synching.

Celestial Stick People (2012)

2d illustration

A silly, approachable stick-figure Tarot deck. Available now through The Game Crafter.

Contests & Game Jams

I’ve participated in many game jams and contests. Here are some of my favorites.

Finding Yourself (2017)

2d illustration

For the 2017 Cleveland Summer Game Jam, my wife and I worked on a text game called Finding Yourself. She did the writing; I made the art. You can play it on the web.

Null Wave (2017)

programming, 3d modeling, texturing

Null Wave was a 3d platformer made for the 2017 Global Game Jam. My whole goal was to make something worth working on after the jam was over, and I think I succeeded.

Rusted Embers (2015)

programming, 3d modeling, texturing

Rusted Embers was made for the 2015 Global Game Jam, the first time my wife and I collaborated during a jam. It was a wonderful experience that has led to several more collaborations.

Exposure (2014)

programming, 3d modeling, texturing

Exposure was my entry for the 2014 Global Game Jam, my attempt at a Myst-like puzzler. I didn’t get very far, but there are parts of the environment I still really like.

The Butterfly and the Beanstalk (2013)

programming, 3d modeling, texturing

The Butterfly and the Beanstalk, made for the 2013 Cleveland Summer Game Jam, was a sort-of racer that emphasized calmness and small, controlled movements over intense action.

Green and Purple (2012)

programming, 3d modeling, texturing

Life. Love. Game Design Challenge (2009)

programming, 2d illustration

In 2009 I submitted a game to the Life. Love. Game Design Challenge and was selected as a runner-up.
